Studying Color

Fine Art Discoveries in Color
I love the color work of Odilon Redon, Van Gogh, Lautrec, and some of the other Post-Impressionists, but I have always found it elusive. Over the summer, I took a workshop-- the Michael Wilcox School of Color-- and largely thanks to his teaching on simultaneous contrast, I think I am getting closer to employing the kind of color that I want to use. Color is notoriously difficult to teach and (almost) totally subjective, but it is my favorite thing to study. This drawing is a piece I did in preparation for the Saints series that I am working on.
